BMW has successfully produced a worthy sequel to its widely-loved M1 coupe: the all-new 2016 M2. Motor Trend recently put the new M2 through its paces and found a lot to love. It's a purist's BMW. Click "play" in the video clip below to watch the full report.
The new M2 has a lot of power under the hood: the engine is a 3.0 liter turbocharged double-overhead cam 24-valve inline six-cylinder that cranks out 365 horsepower and 343 pound-feet of torque. The result? By the most universally understood yardstick, acceleration, the M2 launches from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. 4.2 seconds. Furthermore, it brakes from 60 mph to stop in just 107 feet.
The standard transmission is a precise and silky six-speed manual gearbox; a seven-speed dual-clutch automatics is available as an alternative to the stick. Go for the stick, says Motor Trend.
